Pedestrian Path T-9 East Ring Road
***
The T9-Rolda Leste section forms part of the project "Lalín Cinto Verde", an initiative led by Lalín Town Council to create a network of walking and cycling routes connecting the municipality’s main public facilities and natural spaces. The scheme improves sustainable mobility and creates more opportunities to explore and enjoy the urban environment on foot or by bicycle.
The project upgrades a previously inaccessible strip of land alongside Rolda Leste, transforming it into a new path approximately 554 metres long and 2.50 metres wide. The route improves connections between schools, sports facilities, the municipal swimming pools and Pontiñas Lake, while also linking up with other walking and cycling routes in the surrounding area.
The new path blends into the landscape through a rough-finished concrete surface in a colour similar to that of the existing pavement on the opposite side of the road. Its design ensures visual continuity with the surrounding infrastructure, using a durable, low-maintenance solution that respects the character of the setting.
At junctions with other routes, granite blocks provide transitions between different paving materials and levels, while also serving as markers to identify the paths. The surface is strengthened at access points where heavy vehicles may need to pass, and damaged sections of the existing kerb are repaired or replaced.
The scheme also includes galvanised steel railings in areas with significant level changes and improved fall protection along the existing bridge. Litter bins are installed at access points and route junctions, helping to keep the paths clean and well maintained.
This intervention helps consolidate the Lalín Cinto Verde network, improving connections between the town and its natural spaces while promoting more accessible, sustainable mobility that is closely integrated with the landscape.
