First floor renovation of single-family house

***

The project arise of the order by part of the our client to achieve more space of storage and a better distribution of the first plant of a nice traditional house ubicada on Soutolongo.

This plant presents a compact distribution that orders the spaces across one long pasillo, entirely underused, and that articulating articulating on form of "L" if it initiates on the staircase and finishes off on a antigua door of step, today closed by changes of the structure of the property.

Having like starting point the immovable elements (stairs and hollows of windows) we rearrange all the plant, conserving the number of stays, relocating the bath so that it can have illumination and natural ventilation and including a wide vestidor, as well as spaces of storage in the new space distributor. In this way we improve the functionality of the plant, the exploitation of the natural sunlight and the spatial quality of the spaces that conform it.

To improve the brightness of the entrance hall, we created a study/bedroom using glass and wooden partitions to enhance the visual connection between the different rooms, amplify the sense of spaciousness and bring natural light back into the entire space. As for the staircase, we designed a lightweight black iron banister that blends into the space without overwhelming it.

The master bedroom features a spacious walk-in wardrobe that also serves as an entrance; it is finished in various types of wood and connects to the bedroom via a wide opening, into which we have fitted two sliding doors that blend seamlessly with the wall. In this way, we have enhanced the sense of space in the bedroom, brought natural light into the dressing room and achieved the desired warmth through the use of neutral colours.

As for the bathroom, we propose introducing colour and rhythm through the use of cement-based tiles, which are also used on the walls. In this way, we achieve a sense of colour harmony without overwhelming the space or overloading it with an excessive use of colours or materials.
